Start the camera, wait for the frame-rate reading to stabilize, then check framing, focus, exposure, and motion.

Resolution comes from the active browser track. Frame rate is measured from presented video frames when supported; otherwise MeterSee labels the track's reported value. Lighting, USB bandwidth, and simultaneous apps may reduce both.

After the test

Read the capture, not the box specification.

A 4K camera can still arrive in the browser at 720p when another app, USB bandwidth, or browser constraints intervene.

How this test works

Resolution and track settings come from the selected video stream. Delivered-frame timing is measured when supported; otherwise a reported frame rate must be distinguished from a measured one.

What this cannot establish

A preview cannot determine lens quality, USB faults, or exposure problems automatically. Check lighting and framing yourself, close other camera apps, then compare the same device in your meeting app.

Recheck before replacing hardware

Change one variable at a time, repeat under the same conditions, and compare with the operating system or the affected application. An unavailable reading is not a pass.
